I am trained in postvention support. This is an essential training as part of my work is helping families after a bereavement through suicide. PABBS trained Postvention Assisting those Bereaved By Suicide (PABBS)
I am very creative in my work and use lots of different models in therapy so I can adapt how I work with you. I believe the relationship between client and therapist is key to a good therapeutic relationship. I believe the relationship is built from trust and if we are to succeed in the sessions we need to be open and honest and work in a collaborative way.
I offer a safe and confidential environment for you to look at your feelings, to be non-judgemental so you can explore what is going on for you or if you come as a couple we can look at the relationship as a focus.
On our first appointment I will carry out an assessment to see if I am the right therapist to work with you, and that I have the right training to be able to assist you.
I trained at Aylesbury College and hold a level 5 qualification in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a Level 5 CBT diploma. I trained as a supervisor at the Albany Centre in St Albans in 2017 and trained in family therapy in 2017 too.
I bring in lots of tools to help us resolve some of the issues you may be facing. I aim to help you find the real you through understanding theories from theorists we have more understanding about our behaviours, feelings and our past history. With an Integrative approach in my work this then allows me to work flexibly and creatively with my clients. I bring in the Person Centered therapy CBT, Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic models to my work and I also can use Mindfulness and Meditation approaches when needed.
I have volunteered at The hospice of St Francis where I gained a lot of experience in bereavement and loss. I still supportive the care team there and offer time when I can to the charity.
I also have worked in addiction rehab centres in many different settings, volunteering counselling to those most vulnerable. Now in my private practice I can combine my skills to offer counselling to suit you. I believe that the connection with dis-ease (disease) and our mental wellbeing goes hand in hand, in looking after the mind, the body and spirit we can live a happier healthier life.
I am passionate about continued learning so I am either teaching, running a group or on my own self-development training.
